It goes without saying that blokes in New Zealand have sheds. John Spry does, but his is a little different - he builds planes in his. There is a second shed too, where he keeps his cars. And upstairs is the architect-designed holiday home he shares with his wife Pam. Out the front is two hundred hectares of lawn but John reckons he can't practise golf there because lost balls might get sucked up by the skydivers' planes from the shed next door. The Sprys' holiday house is located at Taupo Airport so they fly in from their home in Wellington and stay the weekend or longer before returning south. If the weather's rough they leave the plane in to hangar, lock the doors and drive home on the Desert Road.
