His heart's on Waiheke Island, but interior designer Neil McLachlan needed an inner-city Auckland base, so he created a glamorous second home in St Marys Bay. Years in France showed Auckland interior designer Neil McLachlan that perfect equilibrium comes from having a tranquil country home plus a place in the heart of the city. "I have always loved either being right in town or right in the country. I think it comes from years of living in Paris, where I was always escaping for weekends to friends'homes in the countryside."
