Ayearning for ice cream led the Kinsella family to their hillside house overlooking Mercury Bay. The Singapore-based couple stumbled on the ice cream shop at Hahei beach while showing British relatives around the Coromandel Peninsula. Cones in hand, they were idly scanning the neighbouring realtor's office window when they found themselves staring at a photograph of what looked like their dream coastal property. Ian and Louise Kinsella visited the site and made an instant decision. "We just looked at the view from up here and thought, 'This is it, we'll take it'," Ian says.
