SS WE ENTER THIS HOLIDAY season and give thanks for ourrnany profession-al and personal blessings, may we pause and reflect upon the gifts we have both bestowed and received. As we gather at festive tables to celebrate with our family and friends, may we be grateful for their love and support. It is with gratitude and these social support networks that allow many of us to advance the science of nursing in education, research, and practice. As nurse leaders, we are called upon to create healthy work environments dedicated to promoting caring and compassionate behaviors. The ability to preserve and serve others daily with care and compassion requires that we too are nurtured and sustained. It is time for us to acknowledge that gift of love and support. It's time to learn how to "give back to move forward" (Prevost, 2011).
