In response to Roger Kline's recent article ("Nursing schools should back Speak Out Safely to support students," nursingtimes.net), I heartily agree with him that student nurses feel threatened by the risk of raising concerns on placement and being viewed as troublemakers. I am mentoring a student nurse who told me last week that she was 100% committed to learning. I told her she had 100% support from her mentor and that she must tell me anything she was not comfortable with.
