Do single rooms require more staff than other wards?

To enhance dignity and privacy in care, as well as reduce infection rates, the NHS is increasing the number of single-room wards. Here we examine the staffing effects of nursing patients in single rooms.Staffing requirements of single room wards were compared with other types of wards using the University of Leeds workload-quality database, which captures the activity of nurses on 1,000 randomly selected wards across the UK.
