The RCN's emergency nursing faculty helps nurses to develop their skills as they climb the career ladder

Emergency nurses at Gloucestershire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust were among the first to join the RCN's Faculty of Emergency Nursing (FEN). Almost a decade since its conception, the full faculty opened in April last year and already its membership is approaching 2,000 emergency nurses from the UK and abroad.'This is the first nursing faculty in the UK and the first faculty of emergency care in the world, as far as we know,' says Phil Downing, vice chair of the faculty and lead nurse in Gloucester's A&E department.
