摘要

School food has again hit the headlines, this time in relation to food other than lunches offered at school. For much of last year, school food sat high on the political menu (see Buttriss 2005) and, in October, the Secretary of State for Education and Skills published for consultation the final report of the School Meals Review Panel (SMRP) on nutritional standards for school lunches (Turning the Tables: Transforming School Food, http://www.schoolfoodtrust.org.uk/). The consultation period for the report ran until the end of December 2005 and the results of this consultation are expected to be published in May 2006.
