The Energetic Gamma Ray Experiment Telescope (EGRET) on the Compton Gamma Ray Observatory has, since launch in April 1991, observed the entire sky with a exposure of at least 10(8) cm(2) s and has detected a wide variety of gamma ray sources in addition to the diffuse galactic gamma-ray emission. The spectra and time variability of these sources, which include AGN, pulsars, gamma ray bursts, and solar flares, are discussed along with the diffuse emission from the galactic plane and molecular clouds.
