Nuclear spectroscopy on unstable nuclei at RIKEN

Recent studies on nuclear structure by using radioactive isotope (RI) beams available at the RIKEN projectile-fragment separator (RIPS) are reviewed. Special emphasis is given to selected experiments from a recent program that highlight studies on the magicity loss observed for neutron-rich nuclei at N approximate to 8 and N approximate to 20.
