Search for non-standard time-reversal violation in the K-mu 3 decay

An experiment is presently under way at the Japanese National Laboratory KEK to search for a. transverse polarization of the muon in the K+ --> pi (0)mu (+)nu decay (also known as the K-mu3 decay). Such a polarization violates time-reversal (T) invariance, but is predicted to be vanishingly small in the Standard Model. Therefore its observation would be a clear signal for new sources of time-reversal violation, beyond the Standard Model. [References: 14]
