摘要

The iodine (I) content of various foods and drinking water collected from rural and urban areas of the 3 agroclimatic zones of Haryana State, India, were analysed. Results show wide variation in the iodine content of cereals, pulses, vegetables, fruits and milk. Many of the pulses and fruits analysed were not commonly consumed by the rural population since they were not cultivated locally. The iodine content in the collected samples of tap water, hand pump water and tube well water varied from source to source and from zone to zone.
