摘要

We present a relativistic calculation of Compton scattering on the nucleon in the energy region up to the first nucleon resonance (300 MeV photon lab energy). Including nucleon and Delta-degrees of freedom in the effective-lagrangian approach, we obtain good agreement with the experimental differential cross section. From the cross-section analysis the parameters of the electromagnetic nucleon-Delta coupling can be determined; however, not unambiguously. A range of parameter values is given for which equally good fits to the data are obtained. Also, results on the electric and magnetic polarizabilities of the nucleon are presented. [References: 61]
