Generalized momentum distribution in finite nuclei

The generalized momentum distribution eta((p) over right arrow, (Q) over right arrow) of finite nuclei is studied. Tractable analytical expressions an derived using a harmonic oscillator basis and numerical results are presented for the closed-shell nuclei O-16 and Ca-40 in the case that (p) over right arrow is parallel to (Q) over right arrow. Our results are compared with those for an infinite Fermi gas of appropriate wave number and with those for a model nuclear matter derived via microscopic calculations including dynamical correlations. The method is expected to reproduce the main features of the quantity eta((p) over right arrow, (Q) over right arrow) stemming from finite nuclear size and Fermi statistics, being reliable at certain regions of the momenta p and Q.
