Investigations on the biodistribution of Tc-99m-BPHA in normal and probenecid treated mice and a comparison with Tc-99m-DTPA injected mice suggested that Tc-99m-BPHA is also a glomerular filtration agent. Whole body radioactivity measurements in mice and rabbits after administration of Tc-99m-BPHA showed negligible whole body radioactivity at 24 h. Excellent kidney images both in rabbits and a human volunteer were obtained. The significance of higher GFR estimates using Tc-99m-BPHA compared to Tc-99m-DTPA is discussed.
