摘要

I have just read the heart-wrenching story of Monica Botto-man, a 34-year-old nurse working in Lilongwe, the capital city of Malawi, in Africa. This article was first published in the Ottawa Citizen, a Canadian paper, and reprinted last December in the International Nursing Review (ICN, 2006). I want to summarize this here because Monica's story should have as much exposure as possible in our fight against HIV/AIDS. It is a salient reminder of the conditions that many patients and health professionals have to endure in Africa.
