More AP1000s in the Offing but Inland NPPs Will Have to Wait

With four AP1000s under construction and expected to be on line in 2014 and 2015, China is already preparing to start construction of another six, according to Chen Zhaobo, pres- ident of the experts committee of the State Nuclear Power Technology Corp. (SNPTC), which is dedicated to the import and indigenization of Westinghouse's third generation AP1000 technology in China. But plans for inland nuclear power plants (NPPs) look set for a delay of at least a year or two.
