Coffee a speciality: Carrie-Ann Skinner samples the goods at this award winning coffee shop

Bents has been offering its customers refreshments since the opening of its Balcony Coffee Lounge in 1982. Only a few years later in the mid-eighties it became clear that due to growing popularity, the coffee lounge and restaurant would have to be extended. This resulted in the development of the coffee shop called Caffe Nel Verde, which was named Glee Coffee Shop of the Year in the 2002 N&GC awards, and the Fresh Approach restaurant both opening in September 2001. The projects were developed underthe guidance of Helen Bent - winner of the N&GC young retailer of the year 2002 - who already had plenty of catering experience under her belt.
