QR codes are two-dimensional barcodes that can hold many times more information than traditional one-dimensionalbarcodes in a smaller space. The technology, which was invented by Toyota for use as a vehicle tracking system, has spread like wildfire as more consumers adopt smartphones with built-in cameras and data scanning capabilities.
