Responding to Emergencies: Enhancing Life Safety Through Mass Notification

Mass Notification has become an essential part of NFPA 72. An overview of this technology and its challenges will be presented at the WSC&E on June 6. As businesses and institutions move to strengthen emergency notification capabilities NFP A is taking steps to integrate mass notification concepts with already existing requirements. A special task group set up by NFPA in early 2004 reviewed NFPA 72~R, National Fire Alarm Code~R, to identify potential conflicts and establish guidelines for including mass notification systems (MNS) in the National Fire Alarm Code.
