There's another celebration next year. The International Year of Astronomycommemorates the 400th anniversary of Galileo's telescope. The year 2009 will be one inwhich to marvel at what we've learnt about the cosmos, and to speculate about what morewe'll learn via still more powerful telescopes—themselves a synergy between science andinnovative technology.
