Dr. Knobel practiced as a neonatal nurse and neonatal nurse practitioner for 28 years prior to becoming a nurse scientist. Her interdisciplinary research focuses on basic physiologic processes related to thermoregulation and perfusion in extremely premature infants. She has been a principal research investigator on numerous research projects related to thermoregulation in neonates. She recently completed a study examining body temperature in relationship to morbidity in 30 infants funded by the National Institutes of Health (National Institute of Nursing Research) and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Dr. Robin Knobel, a leading expert in neonatal thermoregulation, will be the guest editor, and writer of this issue of Newborn and Infant Nursing Review's titled "Thermoregulation in the Neonate".
