Aphid flight behaviour and planting potato recognition. Analysis in the region of LKW Hannover during 1980-1996.

The role of aphids in the transmission of plant viruses in potatoes is described. Data were analysed of the flight behaviour of aphids and virus transmission. Small or delayed increases in aphid numbers in spring (week 23-24) resulted in minor virusproblems, while early flights (week 20) resulted in major damage.
