Food security is a global challenge and food safety is a global issue of the 21st century.Both food safety and food security directly impact the quality of life on this planet. Unavailability of food or availability of unsafe food could create life threatening situation for human beings. Hunger and hunger related illnesses kill more than 10 million people worldwide - this includes six million children. It is important to understand the inter-relationship between these two global concerns.
