A comparitative study in the economic efficiency of different air conditioning systems for surgical operating rooms

This paper begins with the explanation of a new ventilation and air conditioning concept for operation departments in hospitals. It is beside others marked by a germ-free-air-zone in the operation room, realized by a large laminar flow distributor which covers the operation instrument tables. This concept has been investigated concerning their economic efficiency. The comparison of the results about the total annual running costs indicate, that the new concept is at least as economic as concepts based on the German Standard if one uses mainly recirculation air in the operating room and optimised technical solutions.
