In support of developing technology that will enable supersonic flight over land, NASA engineers are working on low-boom aircraft designs, analyzing and predicting sonic booms, and assessing and quantifying human response to sonic booms. NASA expects the latter avenue of research to generate data crucial for developing a low-boom standard for the civil aviation industry.
