abstract_textpMaintenance chemotherapy may be a treatment option in patients with advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). First-line therapy can be continued with the ongoing administration of one of the first-line drugs or a switch to one of the second-line drugs, e.g. docetaxel, pemetrexed or erlotinib. In two meta-analyses a significant advantage in progression-free survival and a modest advantage in overall survival were confirmed.
