Giant invasive spinal schwannoma: Its clinical features and surgical management: Commentary

The authors discuss their experience with 14 patients with giant invasive spinal schwannomas (GISSs). In this interesting article on an unusual subject, the authors recommend total excision or, when not possible, maximal debulking with active postoperative surveillance particularly when the Ki-67 proliferation index is > 2%. These tumors are interesting and often challenging to resect. Although this is a small series, the rarity and interest are noteworthy.
