Harnessing the Brain's Tools for Killing Cancer Cells Could be a Key to Treating High-grade Gliomas

High-grade gliomas remain an elusive target for the neurosurgeon and neuro-oncologist. Despite incremental improvements in survival over the last couple of decades, we are far from converting the death sentence of a high-grade glioma to a chronic disease. One paradigm that is being investigated is the use of the body's own strategies at controlling or killing off cancers as potential therapeutics. An example of this is the creation and use of tumor vaccines to activate the immune system against gliomas.
