This article has been retracted at the request of the editors and authors. Please see Elsevier Policy on Article Withdrawal (http://www.elsevier.com/locate/withdrawalpolicy). Reason: After publication of their paper, the authors increased the number of control cases and carried out densitometric studies relating levels of malondialdehyde lysine (MDAL) immunoreactivity to levels of 14-3-3 immunoreactivity in comparative spots of membranes blotted with 14-3-3 and MDAL antibodies. Differences were not significant between Alzheimer's disease (AD) (n=6) and age-matched controls (n=8) when values of MDAL in 14-3-3 spots were corrected by values of total 14-3-3.
