A NUMBER OF electronic toll collection systems are in operation overseas - the impact of these systems mean drivers no longer need to slow down or stop in order to pay their toll. Rather than paying cash at a tollbooth, roadside equipment automatically detects and identifies a vehicle's registration details. This information is fed to a back office system and the toll is deducted from a pre-established account or invoiced to the vehicle owner.
