Bethlehem Steel to shed Structural Products, Centec, BethForge, and BethShip

Bethlehem Steel will try to sell four unprofitable operations by early 1997. If the company is unable to find a qualified buyer by that time, it will close those operations while continuing to seek buyers. The businesses, Bethlehem Structural Products Corp., Centec Roll Corp., BethForge, and BethShip, account for less than 10 percent of the company's total sales; they employ about 2,235 workers, or 12 percent of Bethlehem's total workforce.
