Preussag Stahl invests in Steel Dynamics

German steelmaker Preussag. Stahl (Steel) has purchased a nearly 20-percent stake in startup minimill Steel Dynamics Inc. (SDI). SDI will use the funds in building its cold mill, the financing for which is complete, says Keith Busse, company president. The steelmaker plans to start building the mill this spring. The mill will have an annual capacity of 1 million tons and will be able to pickle, anneal, temper-roll, and hot-dip-galvanize light-gage steel.
