Timken Co. will produce bearings in China in a joint venture with tapered-roller-bearing maker Shandong Yantai Bearing Factory. The new company, Yantai Timlcen Co. Ltd., will be in Yantai, which is on the northeast coast of China near the Yellow Sea. Shandong Yantai's current facility will be the site of the joint venture. Timken and Shandong Yantai will share technology in operating the new plant, which also will undergo some upgrades, a Timken representative says. The joint venture initially will produce tapered roller bearings, but its product line might expand in the future, she says.
