At long last the 'new' BS-5950-1: 2000 has been published and, in accordance with it, the SCI and BCSA have jointly published a new version of the Blue Book. The Blue Book is an essential tool for steel designers giving section properties and member capacities in tabular form for use in design. It is a familiar friend for most steelwork designers, with comprehensive coverage of all common steel sections.The first edition was published in 1985, with four subsequent editions up to 1997. The recent major amendment to BS 5950-1: 2000, have meant that a new 6th edition of the Blue Book has been prepared and is now available.
