North American Stainless will install a hot-strip mill

North American Stainless (NAS) plans to build a one-stand roughing mill and a Steckel hot-rolling mill for stainless sheet at its plant site in Ghent, Ky. This will be the first hot-rolling mill in North America dedicated to 60-inch-wide stainless sheet. Some users prefer wider sheet because it cuts fabrication costs compared with using narrower sheets. The NAS board approved the 263 million dollars project in late December.
