Application of Group Theory to the Analysis of the Equations of Stationary Heat Conduction and Static Thermoelasticity

Similarity transformations are constructed andused to obtain an exact solution of the axially symmetricboundary-value problem of static thermoelasticity for a halfspace whose free surface is heated by a continuous point heatsource. It is shown that this solution agrees with the solutionobtained earlier by the method of thermoelastic potentials.
