Producers Buying Paeking Plant

Come 1997, the first producer-owned packing plant in Indiana should be completely on line to accept members' hogs. The Indiana Family Farms plant will be totally producer-owned and operated, stresses Steve Dalton, Goodland, IN, pork producer and co-chair of the Indiana Family Farms Pork Marketing Project, Dalton says the pork marketing cooperative has all but completed its membership drive to secure funding and hog numbers and they expect to open the plant's doors to hog slaughter and pork processing late in 1996 or early in 1997.
