Neuropeptides 2007: Function, Dysfunction and Therapeutic Options-Santorini, Greece, 19-21 April 2007 Abstracts

It is a great pleasure to welcome you in the "Neuropeptides 2007 Function, Dysfunction and Therapeutic Options" Symposium in the island of Santorini, Greece. This symposium is organized by the "Tachykinins 2007" group, and the "European Neuropeptide Club 2007" in cooperation with the "US Summer Neuropeptide Conference". We will discuss new developments in the neuropeptide field, review novel neuropeptide-related paradigms and mechanisms, and address their importance in the physiology and pathophysiology of several organs and disease states. A very important aspect of this meeting is also to strengthen the scientific and friendly bonds among all of us working in the neuropeptide field in an open and collegial atmosphere.Santorini is the most extraordinary island of the Aegean, taking its present unusual and striking shape from earthquakes and a gigantic volcanic eruption. Some claim Santorini to be a remnant of the lost Atlantis, while archaeological evidence demonstrates a highly developed culture dating back to the Neolithic Era. Minoans, Mycenaean and Classical Hellenes as well as Phoenicians, Romans and Venetians left their marks on this unique little island.
