A 45-year-old woman had been experiencing headache and visual disturbance for 2 years. Her family and medical history were unremarkable. She was fully conscious at the time of admission, and her neurological examination showed no important signs of abnormalities. Results of the laboratory investigations showed no evidence of pituitary dysfunction. A brain CT scan revealed a 2 x 2 x 3 cm sellar mass that was thought to represent a pituitary adenoma. Further, MRI showed a solid, well-marginated mass in the sellar region. The tumor was isointense on Tl-weighted sequences and exhibited remarkable homogenous enhancement after administration of an intravenous contrast agent (Fig. 1A,B).
