摘要

MICRO IRRIGATION: EMERGING AS DEMAND DRIVEN TECHNOLOGY IN INDIAThe data was offered by Dr. P.Soman, Senior Vice President and Chief Agronomist at JAIN IRRIGATION SYSTEMS LTD, who had a last minute flight connection problem from Africa and could not attend but prepared a summary of his lecture for New Ag International readers. Agriculture in India is climate restricted; to achieve the increased food production of 494 million t by 2050, the irrigated area should increase from 79 million ha to 146 million ha. This cannot happen as the water is limited. Production cannot be increased by increasing in area alone; area will increase only by 2 million ha during 2010-2050.
