摘要

As hydraulic fracturing continues to flourish as operators develop unconventional oil and natural gas plays, so does the industry's thirst for water. But while a gas well frack job might use up to 5 million gallons of water, it also creates the thorny problem of what to do with the leftover wastewater. Companies across the US are rushing into this niche market for water treatment and among the standard bearers of this group is Los Angeles, California-based OriginOil, which showed off its technology at a north Houston business park last week (NGW Feb.18'13). "Our demonstration model is a one-barrel per minute system," said Bill Charneski, general manager of the company's Oil & Gas Division.
