Perhaps realizing that unusual problems require unusual solutions, struggling Canadian gas giant Encana has gone outside the company — and Alberta's oil patch — to find a new chief executive to turn around the company's fortunes. Stepping into the limelight in the company's Calgary headquarters last week was American Doug Suttles, who left his job as the head of BP's Exploration and Production unit in 2011 when he served as the company's point man for three months dealing with the damage caused by the massive Macondo oil spill in the US Gulf of Mexico.
