House GOP Slips Major Expansion Of Leasing Into Transportation Bill

House Republicans have worked a number of pro-drilling provisions into their version of a transportation funding authorization that will be debated right to the end of March, when the current version expires. Senate Democrats are unlikely to go for the House GOP's plan to open up leasing in parts of the Atlantic and Pacific, the Rocky Mountain's federally owned Green River kerogen oil shale formation and the non-wilderness portion of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska.
