The oil and gas industry had been conducting fracking jobs in Canada for more than 60 years before opponents of the technology noticed that such operations were taking place, says the head of Canada's leading oil services trade organization. According to Mark Salkeld, chief executive of Petroleum Services Association of Canada (Psac), Halliburton performed the first frack job in Canada in 1951 in Manitoba. It was just the first of thousands in what is now a routine oil-patch practice, Salkeld told Natural Gas Week on the sidelines of last month's Canadian Energy Research Institute (Ceri) 2013 Natural Gas Conference.
