The US Department of Energy released a report showcasing the record growth in the US wind industry earlier this month with specific attention to the Lone Star State. Texas became the country's largest and fastest growing wind market by adding 1,826 megawatts of new wind capacity, according to the report. By the end of 2012, Texas had twice as much wind capacity as the next highest state, with installed capacity totaling 12,214 MW. Texas also boasts more installed wind capacity than all but five countries, the report says.
