Chesapeake, Total Forming Joint Venture in Texas' Barnett Shale

Chesapeake Energy has inked another multi-billion deal with an international firm looking to break into the US shale scene, this time in the Barnett Shale of North Texas. France's Total is forming a $2.25 billion joint venture with the Oklahoma City-based independent, following in the footsteps of UK major BP and Norway's Statoil, which inked shale deals with Chesapeake in 2008.
