Much has been done to expand US transmission infrastructure to accommodate the influx of new energy sources. Still, the federal-state fight over which is in control is seen by some as hampering progress, according to speakers at a recent energy summit in Washington, D.C. Wrangling over federal versus regional responsibility for transmission projects intensified in February when a federal court of appeals placed siting authority back in the hands of state regulators.
