Encana Looks to Emerging Shale Plays for Jump in Liquids Output

Expecting prices will make a comeback sooner rather than later, Encana isn't giving up on natural gas just yet. In the meantime, however, the Calgary-based firm plans to shift its attention to oil and liquids production for the next 18 months. During an investor day presentation last week, the company unveiled plans to spend an additional $600 million to raise its oil and natural gas liquids (NGLs) production to 30,000 barrels per day in 2012 - a 7% increase from its original estimate.
