Railroad Commission Closer to Overhaul

The regulatory agency that oversees the oil and gas industry in Texas is set to got a new name and be headed by a single commissioner under legislation that passed the State Senate last week. In its current form, the legislation would rename the Texas Railroad Commission (RRG) the Texas Oil and Gas Commission, reduce the number of elected commissioners to one from three, and require the regulator to be self-funded.
